The story of Duende

Our Villa is called Duende, but what does it mean? Duende is on of those impossible to translate words, that relates to the "state of bliss or spell" that a (flamenco) artist comes in during a perfor-mance. It has something magical, just like our villa.

If you want to withness the Duende for yourself, go to a flamenco show in Granada, were the culteral heart of the Gypsys is to be found in the Sacromonte area.

Almunecar is located in the heart of the Tropical Coast, it has 19 km of coast divided in 26 beaches and its temperatures do not go below the 16 degrees in winter, and do not go over the 35 degrees in summer. Among its beaches the visitor will be able to find several full of visitors and services, remote solitary coves and even one where is possible to practice the naturism. The offer of activities related to the sea is complete. From diving courses, sailing, windsurf or kayaking to the rent of aquatic bikes or excursions and marine charters.

For the fans of nature, Almuñécar also has a great number of attractive points. One of them is the Ecological Complex Peña Escrita, located in a natural balcony at 1,100 meters of altitude, from where it is possible to contemplate the spurs of Sierra Nevada, the landscape of the Alpujarras and the fusion of the tropical valley with the Mediterranean Sea. There is an animal reserve in this enclosure of municipal initiative, that has been developed in a quiet and security surrounding. It is also an ideal place to practice all type of outdoors sports like trekking, mountain bike or para-gliding.
Motril is the second biggest population centre of the Granada province, being the nearest sea gate of Granada and Jaén, as well as communication centre of the coast with the interior.
The main tourist attraction of Motril is a combination of its patrimony and its excellent beaches. Located in the southern slope of a series of penibéticas mountain ranges - the ones of Almijara, Lújar and Sierra Nevada - it is protected by these of cold winds from the north.
